Default Just Hello

Greetings from south-central Virginia. I'm just getting back into woodworking after several years; more time to do projects since I retired last year. A few are in the planning stages for the wife and granddaughters. I'm sure I will learn a lot here, and perhaps I can contribute something, as well. Cheers.

Hi Gerry - welcome to the forum!

I'm down in Winston-Salem, so not too far; we vacation in VA often (just spent 3 nights @ the Primland Lodge near Stuart).

Not sure exactly where you are located, but if you need a 'wood source', I've used Wall Lumber in Mayodan, NC (off 220 near the VA line) for years; usually order bundles that can be shipped via UPS.

Hope to see you posting - Dave

Hi Gerry and welcome.

If you think being retired means you'll have a relaxing and carefree life, think again! Suddenly, everyone wants to help you by giving you a few "little jobs" to do for them (just to stop you being bored, of course - lol). Since I "retired", I have worked harder than at any other time in my life - not that I'm complaining. It's better than sitting in a retirement home rocking back and forth in a musty smelling, threadbare armchair with just a bowl of stewed prunes to look forward to!

Dave,

I'm in Charlotte Court House, not too far off of Rt 360. Thank you for the wood source. While checking on prices lately, I think I might need a source for the money needed to purchese the wood. Good grief, the prices have jumped! Like everything else, I guess.

Rod,

I already have experienced the "busy" aspect of retirement. I figured I would be able to catch up on some of my projects, but it seems I am helping everyone else catch up on theirs. No matter. I'm still having fun "tooling up" for my projects. I have given away a lot of tools over the years that sat idle. Now I get to buy them again. I think I have bought every tool I have at least twice. Hopefully, no rocking chair or prunes for me, for awhile anyway.

Hi Gerry - just check the VA state map - we've made a half dozen visits to Richmond over the years (love the Jefferson Hotel & their Sunday brunch) - I like taking Rt 360, so we've passed near you often - thanks for the info - Dave
