Hello everyone, I decided to take up woodworking now that I have retired, it's been 53 years since I left school, which is when I last did any woodworking, so I'm sure I'll have a steep learning curve. I've bought a sliding mitre saw, a table saw, a plunge router, a biscuit joiner and a Kreg Jig, all of the equipment is lower end of quality, so far all I've made is a shoe rack for outside the front door, unfortunateley we are selling our house so I have had to pack everything away until we move into a new place. Looking forward to asking plenty of dopey questions in the future.

Rob, we will be glad to help you along the way. One of the best projects for beginners or people whose skills are a bit rusty is to build some boxes. They are always useful, make great gifts and are an excellent way to practice cutting, routing, gluing, clamping and finishing.

Hi Rob - welcome to the forum!

I've been woodworking for many years, but now retired & in my mid-60s, and doing more in my shop w/ the extra time - my main advice is just to be more careful, wear safety protection, and always think twice - good look & hope to see you posting! Dave
