Default New member -"Hello"

Just a quick line or three to say Hello to you all.

I live in the United Kingdom, West Yorkshire, near Leeds.
I am 59 yo, semi retired & work part time in a local charity, helping people with mental health issues, in the woodworking dept to be precise. Working there has rekindled my interest in woodworking in particular routing and wood turning: we are always trying new ideas and ways to generate income in these difficult times.
I try to save the charity money by repairing / maintaining our machines when they get "tired", current repair is a Makita sliding compound saw, the drive gears are worn, cost of parts alone are 130, ouch !!
I am a retired mechanical engineer, with managerial experience.
Time to go, I am trying to design my own router lathe, the ones on 'the bay' sell for way too much !!

I saw a link to plans for a homemade router lathe on the forum a while back. A forum search for might bring up something for you and welcome to the forum.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Thanks Chuck.

I was searching on google for router lathe plans when I found your router forums site, and quickly realised what a great site this is
Trouble is that I get sidetracked very easily, and went of at a tangent looking at wooden gears.
Sidetracked again !! DOH !!
