Default New guy in San Antonio

Hi!

Just got into woodworking. I have started to get things fro my workshop together and today purchased my first router. Bosch 1617EVSPK Router Combo Package off of CL for 120 bucks, never used. I thought it was a good deal I am interested in making furniture for the house and doing it right.

I retired from the army 6 years ago and just moved here from NH. I will have a million questions since I have never ever used a router.

I am good with other tools.

Hey, Joe; welcome!
Like a lot of us here, it appears that you're moving from carpentry to cabinetry.
It's tough to change a lifetime's habits regarding precision vs production.
The members here are very supportive of the learning curve. Lots of great advice!
Cheers, and stop to sniff the sawdust along the way...

Welcome aboard Joe, and thanks for your service!!

Between marriages i dated a lady from Shavano Park--did several long weekends camping in Hill Country, a few stops in Luckenback mixed in. I enjoyed the Hill Country way more than i thought i would!!

Best wishes in your new journey. Let patience be your friend!!

Hello Joe. Can't provide any advice but I'm in the same boat you are in. I live in Schertz up the road from you and I too have purchased the 1617 after taking the router class at Woodcraft in San Antonio.

Welcome Joe, if you are interested in making furniture or for that matter anything I would suggest that you start by building a table for your router and putting a pocket hole jig on your Christmas list.
