Talking Pantry step stool

Hello!
I'm looking for help for a project that our daughter wants my husband to make for Christmas. (She thinks Dad can do anything!) She wants a step stool for her pantry but we need some plans and directions for him to safely make this project for her. He can certainly figure something out, but she has 2 kids that will be hopping up there to get something off the top shelf, so I'm hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.

The picture she showed us has one folding step and the height of the top step is about 18' high.

Whatever help you folks can offer will be most appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi June. Welcome to the forum.
Something like this is straightforward and easy to make:
