Default Freud, 2-1/4 HP, Model FT1700 VCE

We were about to send our router for repairs to a shop in High Point NC and they said no more router repairs for Freud. They are gonzo, out of business. The lift mechanism is broken. I've seen some posts about lifts and some have built their own.

Is it possible to view some lift designs or get enough detail on how to build one?

Shut down?!?!?! That's not good news. Will need to check into that.
About the lift, check your PM's.

John Schaben

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

Hi John

That's interesting. They pretty much disappeared here in the UK about 3 years back because the power tool division, together with Casals in Spain and Felisatti were bought by a Russian firm, Interskol, who's site now shows quite a few of the old Freud router line which means this should look vagualey familiar (the cutters and blades part of the business in Italy/China went to Bosch), and production was supposed to move there. We haven't been able to get routers over here at all easily for the last couple of years - the last place selling them (badged) was Draper early last year.

Good luck finding spares

Regards

Phil

Call Freud instead of listening to second hand info. I'm in Charlotte and we have no troubles as of yet. Freud Tools Ask to speak to the CEO or President and of course it just maybe that your unit has reached the age of obsolescence. 2) built my own lift for my table and it works just fine; no plans-just a photo from the web.

Good luck - Baker

Second hand info? Freud has disappeared in the UK, and from conversing with colleagues abroad several other European markets over the last 3 years since production moved to Russia from 2009 onwards. Felisatti has disappeared, too. As of today I know three people who've scrapped Freud routers in the last 18 months because if non-availability of spares. Maybe Freud aren't telling us something?

Regards

Phil

Russian or not, maybe Freud had a valid reason to remove itself from the UK because over here - you know the colonies that the UK could not get back. They are listed on Amazon, Google and at my local woodcraft store, have a new 1702 model out as a replacement, etc, etc, etc. The US head quarters are just up the road from me. I go by what I said, if you need a accurate answer, call the head knocker in charge.

Not just the Uk, bu, most of Europe. Maybe they need the dollars?

Sorry, but I still say that a call to the US operations will solve our problems - the fact that they are not available in the UK is not germane to the central issue. You are correct that the website is undergoing maintenance but the contacts as listed are Contact Us

Best luck - Baker
