Default Bosch 1617EVSPK height adjustment issue

I'm in the middle of my second project with this router. This router was a huge upgrade over what I was using. Unfortunately, today the height adjustments quit working. Course adjustment and fine adjustment were both completely unpredicatable. Router was in a table. Following the above table adjustment rod rom the table to the router revealed a small cirlce that showed some friction marks. Eventually I figured out that something used to be there that was now missing. Searching through a small pile of wood chips revealed the missing clip. Once it was reinstalled, I was back in business.

Has anyone else experienced this clip coming off? I honestly don't know what I did that caused it to come off, but i assume it must have happened when pulling the router out of the table to change a bit.

Yep. It happened to me recently. I bought a couple at the hardware store and was back in business. Now if only I could remember where I put the spare. :-(

I had the same problem, once it pops off it will pop of easier the next time. Here is my fix and it worked very well and is still in use.
I got the little collar with a set screw in it and nylon washer at Ace Hardware.

Yes, has happened to me, too. As Bill pointed out, once it happens it very well may happen again. I caused the problem the first time when I tried to adjust it beyond it's limit. It was when I first began using the lift in the table. Idiot that I am, I only looked at the bit height above the table and never looked to see if I was turning the adjustment knob too far. After doing the same thing a second time, I'm a slow learner, I now pay attention to were I am along the screw. Hasn't happened since.
