Default Greetings from Idaho

Hello All!
I am Eric, a VW mechanic by day and a budding luthier by night. I'm fairly new to woodworking, but I'm getting a real kick out of repairing broken ukuleles. My machines (so far) are a 1940 Delta DP 220 drill press, a 1970's Craftsman 6" jointer, and a 1951 Delta 14" bandsaw, which I am looking for a riser kit for. I also have some benchtop stuff, just toys really.
Greetings!
Eric

Welcome Eric,
I also have a Classic Sear's 1972 8" Planer/Jointer. Mine runs with belts that I can buy at Ace Hardware. I also make Cigar Box Guitars, but plan on expanding to almost anything stringed and boxed. There are a ton if things. Join Cigar Box Nation on the Net, and you will have a wealth of knowledge, from all over the world.

Welcome to the forum Eric. I must admit I had to look up "luthier" to see what sort of sick twisted things you did at night. Always a good day when a person learns something new.

Welcome to forum Eric.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Thank you all! I'm having a good time so far. I just completed the first instrument I ever built from scratch, a Cigar Box ukulele! I took it to the supermarket where I shop to show it to the two checkers whom I befriend/pester. One called it a 'piece of art'-high praise for me- and the other said, under her breath, "Eric, that's (expletive deleted) awesome!" Then I played them a song and they got weak in the knees.
And that, gentlemen, is why we have musicians.
Eric

I also try to make CBG's, and am working on my second one now. When I figure out how to add pictures, I will.

Fellow beginner Luthier,
John
