I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Pat and I'm from Baltimore, Maryland. When I was in 10th grade in 1998 I got a job cleaning up for a custom cabinet making shop after I got out of class. Since I was not 18 at the time I was not aloud to use any of the machines because I was not covered under the companies insurance (so I was told). As time went on and I was old enough to use the machines, the lead cabinet makers started teaching me how to properly use the tools and tricks of the trade. This company was great because they worked around my college classes that I was taking at the time to pursue a job in the Information technology field. Fast forward to 6 months ago when I bought my first house which has a detached two car garage that I'm currently turning into a wood working shop. I've always had a passion for wood working and now I have some space to work with. Recently I've really wanted to build a DIY type of CNC router mill about 2'x4' to where I can start milling out parts. I would love to be able to buy a complete kit but I don't have the funds to do this at the time. I figured this would be a great place to learn how to do this. I'm not sure if anyone is from the Baltimore area but if so let me know.
