Default Howdy

Though I thought I was a member I now have a new account. Well so much for an old guy with new technology. I have been a carpenter for 40+ years and am always amazed at how much there is out there to learn. I am getting my home shop set up for retirement projects and going through my tools wondering just how many screw drivers on man needs. Thinking of getting rid of all power tools and going back to the basics. Then again the one thing I have learned is some power tools really do make the job easier. Pardon my ramblings just an old guy musing. But Howdy All.

Hi Joe- welcome to the forum
I'm a retired( or thought I was) carpenter that has been amassing tools for years. I have some of my Dad's and Grandad's old hand tools. After using power tools for so many years
I doubt you will be happy using hand tools. I know that I used hand tools many years ago as a youngster with my Dad and never appreciated the amount of labor they took. I'm just not the person who wants to spend a hour doing something that can be done better with power tools in 5 minutes. Probably ,like you I've always had to accomplish as much as well as possible to be profitable. Some members on the forum will disagree with this but I think that good power tools (not Chinese bench top crap) do a very good job. You're right, you can only find a use for so many screwdrivers and you're beater chisels won't work well in wood working.

Tough as nails and nearly as smart
Good tools don't cost- they pay!
