doglover85 The owls look amazing - I'm sure you'll get some good money for them, especially at Christmas!

marecat3 I don't like dead line myself but as I do a lot of this stuff at work it is part of the job. Most of the customers call early enough that is is not a problem but every now and then I get one that waits till the last min and then I go home with a headache. When I do stuff at home I try to make sure there is no dead line as I only have weekends to do the work. Love your work

sunnybob I was backed into a corner on this one.
A neighbour came round and saw all the boxes. He asked if I would do an owl. i shrugged it off at the time. about a month later I decided I would do an owl. Then the grandaughter saw it and claimed it.
Two weeks later, another neighbour came around and bought some stuff, but then told the first guy that I had an owl.
He came straight round wanting to buy it and was not happy when i said it was spoken for as he wanted one for HIS grandaughter and was going back to the Uk in a fortnight. Hence the deadline, just to get me out of the doo doo.

wont happen again, trust me.

By the time I was half way through the second one it was like being back at work. Repetition, deadlines, constant comparing to see if it was the same, stress.
Uh uh. Dont do that no more. So i took them both to the vet's and there wont be any baby owls, thats for sure.
There is a way around that. First, do not, repeat not, have a deadline. Second, make a piece every once in awhile, whenever you feel like it. Maybe make a piece, then make the next piece a week later. Just anytime you have a bit of time to spare, and don't mind making another piece. Heck, take a year making the whole thing if you want, and do NOT take orders, just put it up for sale.

One thing I have found, if someone really, really, pushes you to make something you really do not want to make, charge them. Charge them a lot. A whole lot. Then charge some more. And NO deadline, they get it, when you feel like finishing it, and that is it.

Nice owls by the way. I'd like to order one.
