Really, the women who bought their house in Apple Valley has collected a lot of those items. About a mile down Highway 18 from us. They also had a ranch the other side of the 15 freeway, also on a stretch of highway 18. The Mojave river is underground for much of its 40 miles, but it pops up above the bedrock at their ranch. Their gravesite is in an amazing spot near a gigantic rocky area. Dale went in with the local plumbing magnate to build the cemetery, including a really wonderful chapel with a glass wall at the front with an elevated desert view that is spectacular, especially at sunset.
Here's the Cowboy prayer which is displayed on a plaque near their graves.
"Oh Lord, I reckon I'm not much just by myself.
I fail to do a lot of things I ought to do.
But Lord, when trails are steep and passes high,
Help me ride it straight the whole way through.
And when in the falling dusk I get the final call,
I do not care how many flowers they send --
Above all else the happiest trail would be
For You to say to me, "Let's ride, My friend."

|Gene Howe||No problem, Charlie. I just couldn't put it together. Though, I'm quite familiar with spitoons, cuspidors and, 3 lb. Folgers coffee cans, having grown up among those who always had a chaw in place or, a dip behind the lip.|
