Hsobel I just sent back a rocker dust right hose that did the same thing. It split in several areas. I don't think weight is the problem but whatever bonds the spirals of plastic together must be defective. I hope the one they replace it with is not the same.

Jerry Bowen I did order the optioal 5 m bag from Rockler this morning, but I understand that it is only a short step in the right direction. Until some things are changed in the industry we will have to deal with waht we have I guess.

Sure do appreciate the feed back, as I said, Rockler is replacing the hose for me.

AxlMyk You started 2 threads on the same subject, which can confuse everything.

Cherryville Chuck Jerry, a lot of us that have already installed dust control are in the same boat. We seem to be on the threshhold of new standards. According to current research, what we have been using is badly inadequate. Until the new standards are firmly in place we will have to watch what we buy. A lot of what is available now probably won't make the final grade.
There were several articles in Fine Woodworking's annual "Shops and Tools" issue around Christmas on dust control. Their conclusions are that you have to have a cyclone to collect the large particles and then a Hepa filter (filtration down to .3 micron) after that. What you have to do to get there depends on how you are set up.
I don't deal with Rockler because of where I live so can't help you there. The hose shouldn't be breaking. I have about 30' of hose in my shop and it hasn't broken in the 10 years it has been in use.
If you are really having trouble finding past activity on the forum you can always check the history on your internet browser. It will lead you back to a post.

Question About This Forum

Yesterday I ask a question on this forum about the Dust Right Dust 3ollection System. After a couple of hours I checed to see if anybody had responded to my question but when I opened the windew where my threads were supposed to be displayed, the one that I had posted earlier did not appear. So, i re-wrote the question. This morning when I I checked, there was a message that the original tread was still being displayed.

Well, it may have been displayed somewhere but it was not displayed where i could see it like previous threads have been. I'm wondering if anybody has an answer to why this may have happened.

My question was in regard to the Dust Right System and so far, the one response that I have received is very negative. i am disappointed for the first time in Rockler
as a provider in products for woodworkers. By the time I bought the system, all of the fittings and a cart to mount it on so that could be moved from one tool to the next i was in it $520. Now I need to ash can it and start over if i want an effedctive system. Of course i won't do that, but if I had consulted members of this forum before makeing the purchase I could have avoided the problem. Also, the 4" hose that came with the system is defective and keeps breaking from its own weight, Rockler is replacing it but of course I don't know yet if the replacement hose will be any differenct from the original hose. i will see.
