Jack Wilson This is pretty much what I am after, with a discerning eye you can just see that the upper portion of the backrest has a slight crown to it, or "bellies out", which is very comfortable.

Now if I could just get a detail of that curve!

Jack Wilson Thomas, thanks, will look it up.

Bill, slats are horizontal, thus, they ride nicely over the slight bulge, or belly as I described earlier.

Theo, totaly agree about changing plans to suit. All I really want is a good pattern of the upper portion of the back. The rest I can guess. Most times I don't have any plans.

It may be poor posture on my part, I don't know, but if I lean fully back in Adirondack, my head tilts up and my mouth drops open, very unflattering. And uncomfortable.
Plans are merely guidelines, I have no problem whatsoever in changing plans when I work with them, which is very seldom. Someone else's plans are what 'they' like, not necessarily what 'you' like. If it was me I'd just find some plans I liked the looks of, then change the back to suit myself. Well, that last sentence is not quite accurate; if it was me I'd just design a seat to suit myself, hang it from chains, and call it done. Remember the pictures later.

twallace Jack ,
check out woodworkersworkshop.com for free chair glider plans also if you could access an old issue of wood magazine issue 79 of june 1995 . I had used that plan to build one back then and everyone loved it.

Jack Wilson Gary, thanks for the link, still not quite what I'm looking for, it's that upper back section detail that makes or brakes it for me. The video just shows a straight line up and down for the back, I'ml ooking for something that is ergonomically contoured for comfort.

Looking for porch glider plans

Today my wife and I were at a larger craft venue in Penn Yan NY, one of the vendors sells porch glider and his design is very comfortable... But I can buy the hardware for $20 and build most of the chair from scrap. I spent quite a while tonight looking on-line for set of plans that are similar to what we tried out. With our slow internet and other things, I didn't find much. Probably one of the most comfortable detail is the way the top of the back rest bellies out to support the neck and head, it doesn't just go straight up.

If anybody has a link to some plans that's not a dead, (found some of those tonight) please post it. I am most intested in free, but if the plan looks like what I'm looking for, then I might be willing to buy them.

Thank you all!!!
