PC 690LR won't lift out of base - HELP

Just bought a new PC model 690LR router. When I try to remove the motor from the base (1001), it rotates up until the upper pins in the motor are at the adjustment ring, but it won't lift out of the base. It moves up about a 16th of an inch or less and then feels like there is a pin, lower in the housing, that is catching on something. Any suggestions or insights?

Thanks for the welcome. The manual is not any help and doesn't talk about removing the base. Both pins are visible just beneath the ring when it is raise to the highest position and are clear of the ring. At this point, it will not rotate in the base other than back and forth a few degrees unless you drop the two visible pins back into the spiral cut to lower the motor. I tried a demo model at a store (also a 690LR ) and it lifted right out when it reached the top. It feels like there is another pin that perhaps sticks out too far, but I can't find it.

That is really odd the store model lifts out so easily, and I am sure you examined it closely to determine that it is the same as yous in every way. maybe some light taps with a soft faced mallet might do the trick.
Years ago when I had the original PC 695 routers I never had any problems lifting them off the base. The PC's now are made offshore and are not quite the quality of the originals.

Welcome to the Router Forums Paul.

Maybe the base is deformed and is clamping the motor when you try to remove it. I would contact the store where you purchased it first, to see if they can help. If they can't help then I'd go through Porter Cable to see if they will replace the base.
