Default Another Sea Captain..

Well I was going to cut out some Santa blanks and then the blade broke on the bandsaw so I decided to do this roughout I bought at the Omaha show. I like seap captains and have always admired this one. This one comes with a neat pier section as a base. I cut the figure off of it before carving and caved them seperate. I didn't like the way the rope looked on the first one so I carved another blank out of a 4 x 4 block. It was a lot of work with a knife making the base from scratch, but I like the way it turned out. Anyway, it's painted with acrylics and finished with BLO and satin lacquer. Thanks for looking as always.

Corey

Hi Bud

Nice job, for me the base is the part I like the best

The old sea dog got stuck out in the open at high tide..

Beautiful Corey! He looks very worldly! Wonderful detail in the base.

Thanks Bobj, and CG. Bobj, I was going to carve an additional part to the base that is water, still might.. but thought a sharks fin sticking out might be too much... lol.
