Default Pyrography practice

Here are two practice seasons from today. The one on the left is my last. I found that I have to draw it out before just burning.

I am amazed on how you can get those burn lines so even and uniformly spaced .

Is that a piece of pine wood ? I am guessing that from the appearance of the knots ..

How about Baltic birch. Is that good for burning on to ? I have quite a bit of 1/8 " and some 1/4" left over from when I used to do a lot of scroll sawing and fretwork.

I used to do leather work. And I have burned any thing I could get my hands on. I have a pine tree that I cut down last year. It still has the bark on it. You can see where I am going. Pictures on trees.
