Default Type of timber to use


What is the best timber to use for burning.I picked up some cheap ply to practice with,but it looks kind of dark and rough.

I like to burn Oak (white mostly) and Hickory-- good BTu rating. I also burn Black Walnut but it makes too much ash.. I also burn what ever is down wood.

We keep a fire going all day. The cost of propane is just to high $$$$$
