Default Trying Pyrography Again

I put a message on the introductions board about my registration today ,

I moved from my previous home in the mountains to a smaller home in town about 14 km south . I don't have a shop where I am now and have all my power tools in storage until spring when I will decide if I am going to build a shop on a much smaller scale than what I had.
Therefore , I have a very small area set up here for trying pyro for the second time around .

Bill,

Maybe you can help me since you have prior experience with Pyrography. I am trying to become a wood turner and I have seen other turners in my club that put information on their platters, bowls, etc. that look like cursive writing such as: date, wood spicies, name, etc.

Can you recommend the proper tool to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Ken

Although I have turned many hundreds of bowls both with a Ringmaster as well as by hollowing out solid blocks of wood , I never put my name or date on them .
There are branding irons that can be purchased with sayings like Hand Crafted By . . . . but of course you could not use a date with one of those.
I have seen some do it with a writing tip with a pyrography burner and it should be quite easy to do . Just make sure to do it before any sealer or finish is applied to the wood .
