Harry,

As promised attached is a photo of the corner cabinet I made some time ago.

I will see if I can find the photos from construction, but i had trouble with one of my hard drives and lost a lot of photos.

The cabinet is made from 19mm pine oak stained.

The sides are frame and panel with 1/4" ply flat panels. The shelves are 19mm MDF. The door is frame and panel with 6mm glass insert.

Too many mistakes to show a close up.....LOL

You are a dark horse James, you would have us believe that you have only recently started woodworking. Just by way of constructive criticism, It would have been better to have the top sitting on the sides with thin edging strip to cove the end grain. Glue blocks on the inside screwed with a screw to the top and frame.
What I would do now is fit plastic stoppers, available in several colours, into the screw heads, where the screws are too deep, use contact adhesive.

Thanks for not being too cruel, Harry.

It was just something I made up in my head....

I told you the mistakes were obvious...

I just wanted to do something in frame and panel using the biscuit cutter, and it kept growing.

I keep telling Maree, the next one will be better, but this one took so long to make she wont let me near it....LOL

That is a nice design, James. Harry's tips were the two that I was thinking of too. I usually use wood plugs to cover screws on the outside though, and on the inside of a cabinet, either the plastic, or the stick on ones work good too and come in plastic or unfinished wood of your choice.

And don't ever worry about how long it takes, hobbies are all about relaxing and enjoying oneself. Sometimes I knock stuff off quick, other times it takes ages as there are so many other things to do in life. :)

Jim,

I was thinking that a rebated edging frame might cover the errors, but I have been told by a higher authority to leave it alone....

It was ever only meant to be a practice piece not fine furniture.

I do enjoy myself, my son claims I never build anything only "go out to play with my toys" .. he may be right ;)

Trophy....

Hi Bill,

One of the reasons, apart from having no shed, that it took so long was that I sailed on a 28' yacht for a number of years (twice a month).

The trophy is for one of the club events we won 3 years in a row. :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

The skipper/owner let me hold the trophy for 12 months...

We normally sailed 2 up.

I am giving sailing a rest for a while to spend more time on woodwork.

At one stage last year, I was sailing every weekend.

'er indoors was not happy...
