I made this Men's Valet for my godchild. The wood is from my Dad's pecan tree. It was estimated to be 200 to 250 years old. This limb became spalted on me. I left it in the log form for about a year. When I cut it up it was spalted. I used my Stott/Milescraft dovetail jig to do the dovetail corners on the case and drawers. I made it straight forward, no trim, or molding. I just wanted to focus on the wood. It is amazing! The pulls are from an old piece of furniture that fell apart after it got flooded.
It took a while to make it. It was my first time doing this type of project, did not want any mistakes. He wanted the traditional green felt. I left the back open to hide the phone charging cord. Dimensions: 8"X12"X 4" Tall. Recessed the top 1 1/4" for cell phone storage. The drawers are 4 1/4"X4 3/4"X 2" Tall.
It was a fun build. I might try a jewelry box one day.
