Default Roman Padlock I

Here is the first of 5 Roman padlock replications. There are a lot of keys pictured on the internet, but very few of the locks apparently have been recovered. I took me awhile to figure out how the locking mechanism worked based on comparing the keys and the pictures of the locks.

The first pictures is a mock up of the locking devise, a set of reed type springs.

Took me a minute to figure out how it works , and it's a very cool concept .
Nice work as usual Herb

I don’t always insulate , but when I do .

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
If only new layers hadn't been added....
