Very nice Herb.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
If only new layers hadn't been added....

Would it be safe to assume that Centurions used this device on their wives (before heading of to Gaul)?

That'd be a guaranteed winner at any 2x4 Challenge, Herb. Beautiful job!
I keep saying, you and Oliver should go into business together.

LOL I could probably make 3-4 out of a 2X4 stud.

Rick, I have a ways to go the guy who wrote the book that inspired me , Tim Detweiller, had made over 3500 of them by the time the book was published, So by now he has left me in the dust. But I think I am ahead of him in Medevil padlocks.
These are really fun to make, they tax the brain and don't require much material, and are great conversation pieces. Some of them I have to just wing it on the internal mechanisms because all there is to work from is a picture.
