General Information
This is a name board for a 29ft. power boat. After making a template of the curved transom, I figured out the radius, transferred that info into Autocad and then printed a full-sized layout of the curve. I glued that print to the edge of the 16/4 teak board that was 12” wide. I also printed the hailport curve and glued that to a smaller piece of teak. The curves were cut on my 14” Delta bandsaw that has a 3/4hp motor and a riser block. Using my drill press for an outfeed table, I took about 20 minutes to cut the curve on the 12” board. I knew the cut started good and finished good but had no idea what the cut looked like in the middle of the board. I was really glad to see that it was almost perfectly flat across the board. Phew ! I cleaned up the 2 wood blanks with a whole mess of hand tools until they were ready for the lettering.
I spray-mounted the layout for the letters and began the tasks of carving, painting, varnishing and installing the boards. About a year ago I heard that the boards were stolen while the boat was being worked on in Florida. And so it goes.
