Default Me & Mickey

My 68 year old sister is in early stages of Alzheimer. She has had a lifelong love of Mickey Mouse. Our family pulled together and sent her and my brother (in law) to Disney on an all expense paid vacation earlier this year.

Since her birthday is later this month, I decided to try my hand at carving a charcature for her. The board will be painted like the example.....or as close to it as I can get.

A lot of love is going into this one. In fact I'm tearing up as I type.

Thanks to every one of you for the tips and tricks you have posted!! Y'all are the reason I had the courage to try this.

I'll post pics of the completed project soon.

With your skills it will be a piece of cake, Frank, and since it's a labor of love you'll take the time to make it perfect. She will love it.

Cut out, carved and painted. Just need the clear coat and a brace on the back to help it stand. It's a little top heavy.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Rick. Feel free to copy It and make her one too. I Googled "Mickey Mouse clip art" to find mine.

Way above my skill level Frank .
I was hoping to get my shop insulated someday and make her a jewelry box . Maybe burn in Mickey on the lid with the laser

What a nice thing to make for your sister, Frank. She'll love it, though I will warn you that there's likely to be a point at which she won't remember who made it for her. That really won't matter though, you made it with love, for her to love and she will do that for sure.
