Default Sign Template letters?

I have been asked to add names to several projects that I have worked on like the toy box and others. I guess I need to break down and buy a set of letter templates - prolly the 4 inch size.

Note: I am wanting to just add letters, but rout the name in the wood.

What is everyone's preference on 4 inch letters? Is the Rockler set easy to use? Others?
Thanks
Mike

This may not help especially if you are not into free handing and you would need an overhead projector. Come up with what you want on the computer. Have an office supply print it on a transparency. Project it on you wood and trace it. Than rout. Practice first. It gives you unlimited
possibilities. It costs next to nothing. An overhead projector can be purchased on Ebay for under $50.

I have the 2 1/2 inch rockler set of letters. It is unbelievably easy to use. I picked them up on sale and with a groupon to lower the price even more. They snap together very easily. I would recommend using double sided tape to secure the templates to the workpiece; on the cover they simply use blue painters tape but I found that tended to move while trying to route the letters or curl up when the router passed over the tape. The guide bushing to go with the set was also very cheap, around $5. I also purchased their bit designed for the set, but have also used some other bits that fit through the bushing. I was able to very quickly make 3 or 4 signs as Christmas presents and have made about the same number in the months since then. They have worked well on pine, ash and oak. I would post some pictures but I lost all of them when i upgraded my iphone.

Find the lettering you want for free on the internet:GOOGLE-Free letter stencils-adjust the letters to the size you want on a copy machine. Then put some carbon paper under the letters you sized. Tape the letters with the carbon paper in place on your wood and trace your lettering. Wa-La:You have your letters and and you are ready to route. Use a 90 degree carbide 2 flute bit to carve and clean out large letters- for small letters use a 60 degree carbide 3 flute bit. Both are 1/4' bits-Have fun my friend-freehand is a blast
