Default Bit for Craftsman Sign Kit

I have a Craftsman Router Template set for making signs that I bought over 20 years ago and made one sign with it, Craftsman #2573. It is a simple set just one letter mounted at a time. My question is I cannot find or remember the bit that came with the set. The instructions say to use a 3/8" or smaller cutter on the large templates. I guess I could use any bit as long as it is 3/8 or smaller, straight or pointed. Wish I could at least find the sign I made, it is somewhere in storage. Anyone have any idea what kind of bit may have come in that set or recommend a bit.

Hi Bob, it depends on what you would like the inside contour of the letter to be. If you are making a single pass (or a few, just to go deeper) then a carbide bullnose bit would make a good looking letter. You can find them in a variety of diameters, all on a 1/4" shaft. A 'V' tip will give another look. It's all about getting a bit with a cutter on the end, the shape is up to you.

I went ahead and scanned and uploaded the manual in the Craftsman section. It is Model #2573.

Bump.

Hi Stephen, check for the manual in the forum library.
