Default Router Bit Quality?

I have decided which bits I will get to start out trying my hand at signs and wonder the difference between MLCS bits & Eagle besides the price. MLCS seems to be considerably less and free shipping, are they any good?

Bob, about the same quality as Rockler, Magnate, Wood River but for a better price and free shipping.

BJ, you forgot to mention she also owns Penn State Industries. Senior moment?

Whiteside, sold at Woodcraft are highly rate, as are Infinity, which can be found at infinity.com (they also have great saw blades).

So I guess Eagle is a better quality. What about Price Line where do these fit in, quality wise?

Do they offer free shipping on Eagle bits? To start out I think I will try the MLCS bits unless Eagle offers free shipping. That way if I decide signs are not for me I won't lose so much and if I stay with it I can always replace with better bits when the time comes.

Bob, starting out you will do fine with MLCS. There is not a significant enough difference in quality with Eagle America. The photo below shows the bits that are out being home shop tested for our router bit comparison testing.

Can't really say, but I will say, I was not thrilled with three of the four MLCS bits I recently received. I'm sticking with Whiteside now.

Apparently the Price Cutter line falls between Eagle & MLCS quality wise, at least their price does. Am I assuming correctly?

Howdy Bob,
MLCS is the bit I use for non high production applications. They give a nice cut and are well worth their price. If I have a high production part I pop for one of the higher price brands but you will get a quality cut from MLCS but a shorter tool life but I recommend MLCS due to the value.
