Default Last 2 signs for a while.....

BE FORE WARNED.....ADULT WORDING IS ON ONE SIGN.....and the sign is in two photos.

These are the last 2 signs I could make before my hand surgery this Wednesday. For these 2 boards I used 3/4" thick Red Oak. The paints are acrylic. I used Krylon Glossy Clear Acrylic for a finish.....3 coats on the front and 1 on the back.

The U of H sign was for a co-worker and the other is for a friend's man cave. The wording of the man cave sign was the choice of his wife....not mine. Sorry if this offends anyone.

I'll be watching and reading the forum while I'm recovering......so keep up the good work and post your pics.....I'm REALLY good at stealing your ideas for my projects!

Very nice work Frank . I'm liking the BS free zone lol. It looks as though the paint has a nice texture to it . Not sure how that was done?
Btw Good luck with your surgery

I don’t always insulate , but when I do .

Thanks Rainman1.

I cut outset letters with my 90° bit. Then I cut the "cloud" using the same bit, same depth. That leaves a lot of wood to be removed between the letters and the cloud's edge. So using the same 90° bit, but set to cut slightly deeper than the original cuts for the letters, I cut random swirls to remove portions of the excess wood.

Then I painted the background. After the paint dried I sanded the surface again to remove any overflowed paint. This will leave high spots on the cut-out back ground. So I used a Sharpie Felt Tip Pen to color these high spots.

Then I applied 3 coats of Krylon Glossy Clear Acrylic sealer......sanding lightly between coats with 000000-steel wool. Be sure to clean the sign and make sure the wool fibers are cleaned off between coatings.

Do you apply the paint with a brush or spray?
These are very beautiful, wish I would get that good. Still trying to perfect inset letters, especially the painting part. I always hated painting. Good luck with the hand surgery.
