Default A 4-Sign Project

I've been asked to make 4 "Redneck" BBQ Cook Off plaques. This is for the 1st ever "Trailer Trash Bash Cookoff" and the plaques need to be "cheap" looking and very redneck.

I'm going to use some old deck boards from my deck. The plaques are going to be very primitive and nowhere near as perfect as the drawings dictate. I will "redneck" them up and make them look very "cheap".......It's gonna be fun to make these.

The picture of the plaque was a sample for my customer. Are these Redneck enough for y'all? LOL

Everything black in the prints will be cut out and painted black. The rest of the board will be the natural color of the wood. I'll clear coat the boards with several coats of urethane since the plaques will make several appearances out in the weather. Cook off teams tend to display their "hardware" from previous cook off winnings.

The drawings were made using Inkscape.

These will be my first signs to make after my hand surgery. I plan on making them this weekend.

I love the smell of sawdust in the morning........

Hi Frank, welcome back. That was quick. Sounds like all went well with your surgery.

Idea: How bout adding a redneck moonshine jug with the XXX on it? Just a thought to help fill up space.

I cut the blanks today and routed a round-over edge with a small bead. Wanted to make the face of each plaque stand proud of the round-over.

To test my hand I used my heavy skill saw, router and random orbital sander. I cut about 7 blanks before I began to get tired.

Big deal you say. So you cut some boards. To me, getting back into the saw dust post surgery was therapeutic!!

Sunday I will finish the job and post some pics.

They wanted "redneck-trailer-trash-cheap" plaques. Careful what you ask for! LOL

Nicely done Frank. I see the Dave Rhoten style background around the year. Hope my first ones will be half as good. Cheers!!!

Thanks Ray. The Dave Rhoten backgrounds are easy to do. You'll be surprised and proud when you make your first one.
