Default Today's Project.....

I'm trying to make myself some templates out of 1/4" thick HDPE. Starting off with a couple of easy patterns. These are still works in progress......close but not finished yet. I will tackle more detailed patterns a little later.

I'll add some mounting screws through the templates to slightly drive into the back of the sign. That way I can sand the holes off.

HDPE is an easy cutting material for my jig saw, hand file and palm sander.

Last week we made some templates for Barb(Outofthewoodwork) but I neglected to take photos. Maybe we can get some today.

This shows what I have left to clean up to get the patterns to size.

I'll post pics when I get these finished and the mounting screws installed.

I managed to finish the templates today. They are 1/2" thick....not 1/4" like I said earlier. I am a retired baseball umpire so we all know I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.......

Any way, I drilled and counter sunk holes in the templates for the 1/2" long screws. That way I can expose the right amount of the point to make it stick and hold the board in place for cutting. Hope to cut some blanks this weekend and try them out.

In all the years of playing sports, I've always wanted ONE OF YOU to admit that. "Three blind mice" and all of that

Actually, a couple of my good friends were umpires in the Niagara region

I will admit it NOW .......but there was NO WAY I would have admitted it back then!!

I never regretted a single day or game when I was on the field. I totally enjoyed working with and around the youth of our area. When they were at practice and playing the games, they were NOT in trouble with anyone.

I actually officiated sports 11 months out of the year, for about 12 years. And I only called 2 sports; baseball and soccer. I called baseball from January 1st until September 1st. Then I refereed soccer from September to end of November. December was my one month off the fields.

Due to an ankle injury I had to give up soccer after 12 years. I couldn't (and still can't) make a quick turn to my right. In soccer you turn both directions.....in baseball most of our turns were to the left.....kinda like NASCAR on grass.....all left turns! LOL

I managed to umpire baseball for another 10 years after my injury.....21 years total.

AND.....I was a lot skinnier back then!!!

@Frankj3

Frank - yankin' your chain.

I may have disagreed with some ( )calls made by umps or hockey refs, to put it mildly, I've never wanted to trade places.
You guys deserved a lot of credit for the abuse you put up with from some hot head players.
