Default A Work In Progress

This is the 2nd year for the "Trailer Trash Bash Cook Off".....a weekend of fun, food, adult beverages, lies, laughs, and a lot of BBQ.

The bash is put on by my son and some of his friends. There are somewhere around 10 teams cooking. They have to keep it small because it's held at one of the guy's place out in the country on 5 acres. It's strictly for fun and for the bragging rights of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.....and "Dead Ass Last". If you can't win 1st then the coveted prize is last place.

The whole theme of this cook off is "REDNECK".....cheap, easy, no frills. I make the award plaques for them. I tend to use my "not-so-good" wood, and I don't really try to be precise on the carvings.

This year, I am using some reclaimed wood fence pickets for the plaques. The bases will be made using some of their fire wood logs. I still need to get my chisels out to square up and clean up the pocket for the plaques to sit in. I'm still very much in the build mode so nothing is finished. I'll post pics of the finished plaques later this month.

I make these for them for free. These guys really are serious cookers and have won several cook offs. So they are usually trying out new concoctions throughout the year. My wife and I get to taste their cookings and tell them "yea" or "nay" all the time. So I consider these as payback for all the BBQ and beer we get to enjoy all year long.

As I have said before....."Free is good!"

Thanks Bill.

There's an old saying "Make hay while the sun is shining."

Well, I'm not a farmer so I don't make hay.....but I do make saw dust when the sun is shining. LOL

Frank, the whole event sounds like a lot of fun-you're plaques are going to fit in well - nice job.

Yup, free beer is always good.

"""REDNECK"""

Frank you must live in Tennessee. That is where most of the rednecks live. By the way great signs.
