Default Reported Issues After Updates

As you may know, we have been migrating our sites over to Google Cloud in order to help with outages and site speed, as well as added security. While doing this change, we are also converting the site to https. which you can read more about here https://techterms.com/definition/https

You may have noticed these changes may be causing some site issues. We are working with Google and VB to help us find long term solutions to these issues instead of bandage fixes and patches that seem to break more than they repair.

We understand that this is impacting your experience on the site, and we hope you understand that we are working on addressing all issues. We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope to have the forums back up and running properly asap.

If you are having issues, please try to only report if you are certain that they have not already been logged. This will ensure the support team is focused on identifying new issues and helping test the fixes as they are rolled out.

On some threads, the last poster's entry, as identified on the new posts page, does not appear.

I rebuilt threads a little while ago. If you see that again can you get a screenshot so I can have the techs check to see if the posts are out of sync?

Previously on Notifications > Likes Received it took you to the top of the page where you can see the New Likes Received. Now it takes you to the bottom of the page you have to wait for it to load and then scroll up or hit Home. I assume Quotes, Mentions, etc. have the same issues.

When reporting forum issues, please include the following information.

  • What device are you using to access the site? Computer? Tablet? Phone?
  • Are you accessing the full site? Using Tapatalk or Mobile View?
  • Which operating system are you using? (Windows 10, etc.)
  • Which browser are you using? (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE, etc.)
  • Have you already tried clearing your cookies/cache?

I will also need to know if you are using full or classic view.

    Full site, full view
  • Which operating system are you using? (Windows 10, etc.)
    Windows 10 Pro
  • Which browser are you using? (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE, etc.)
    IE11

Not manually, not recently anyway. Handled automatically by software. I don't think it would matter much in this case.

I will also need to know if you are using full or classic view.
See above.

David

Edit: Quotes still land you at the top of the page

Besides the like button not working, when I post and want to go back to the posted threads page I have to click on the back button twice whereas previously I only needed to click it once.
Computer, Classic view, Windows 7 Pro, Firefox, not recently but was thinking of trying that.

Update: one click took me back this time. Maybe that "glitch" has been fixed.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Using Internet Explorer/Google, the "Tools" menu will not open. Using Chrome, it does.

Computer (Lenova Yogi), Windows 8

I am definitely not a fan of IE as it blocks so many things needed to navigate a site properly.

I tested this in IE11 and found it blocked until I clicked near the bottom of the page on the IE alert about some content being "not secure" which was the navigation. Once I clicked it was okay to show me, the drop down worked. (I am guessing it blocks JS.)

I have not been able to replicate this yet. I will continue to test.
