Default Being asked to join?

@Cricket

On 12 December I received an email advising me that I had just joined the forum and asking me to complete my profile etc. seemed a bit odd since i’ve been a member for a day or two. Was this a legitimate request from the forum or a fishing expedition? If you need a copy of the email I can forward that as well.

Jon

Hi, that is a pretty normal request. Filling in your profile with information about your tools and so forth, helps folks here respond appropriately to your questions or requests for help. For example, if you don't have a table saw, we know not to suggest solutions involving that particular tool. You don't need to fill in address or any other identifiable information, although out of USA members have different voltage to consider and many tools have different model numbers in different countries.

Hope that addresses your concerns. Never a bad idea to ask questions like that.

The more I do, the less I accomplish.

Since you're already on, I agree it does sound phishy. Just delete it, someone's probably trying to get your password or confirm the email they used is valid.

Seems odd to me too. You are the first I've heard of who had that happen. Jon I think I'll move this thread to Site Help and let Cricket and Admin see it and let them respond.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.
