Default Please erase my signature picture?

In the long past, subscribing here and posting etc required some idiosyncrasies that I am not fluent with, one of them being that while I was editing a long post, choosing carefully words, pictures etc, often the whole post was lost and had to start from the beginning. Anyway, these things were eventually treated properly and now it is quite pleasant to browse around here.

BUT, today I decided to comply with common sense, and post one picture of my wonderful presence in my avatar, like everybody else, and not one in my signature as it has been up to now, because back then I had confused what is a signature with what is an avatar, and had put the pic in the signature. Alas, there is still an oxymoron: it is a check box in the signature editing mode, that says "delete picture", but once this is checked, an error message appears "you can't delete your picture while it is in use" (so what, dear genie, how can I delete a picture that is NOT in use?).

Could someone qualified to do so, please take the digital eraser in hand and remove my portrait from my signature?

I would be most obliged.

Dimitri,

Click the 'blue' account settings in the upper right corner

In the list of options on the left side you will see 'Edit Signature'

You should be able to delete everything you don't want there.
difalkner and Semipro like this.

Your new avatar looks much more like the orthopedic surgeon that you are Dimitri.

Doug, I had already done that and ticked the box that said "remove picture" which had generated an error message. Today, after your suggestion, I went back there and in the code window I erased the picture words and this did the trick !

Harry, I had some problems with portraits before. As I was the photographer of the family, I was always behind the camera and almost never in front of it, so the photos I used as portraits were accidental snapshots taken by the wife or the son. Especially the portrait of me in the member page here, is taken in the central square in Warwick UK, one month after my son got his first job - I was looking at him with intense joy pride and love when he took the pic. This is why my eyesight looks so intensive. I think I should take it down from there, it is good and lively but it is of a very private moment. Now that he has children of his own, he started practicing his already advanced photography knowledge captivating his children's looks and expressions and gestures, and grandpa Dimitri benefited from it - besides, I opened private rooms and needed a few photos, hence the portrait you see.

At long last, I am starting to cope with the intricacies of this site.
