Default Pictures get posted sideways

When I post my pictures, they are shown turn 90 degrees. How do I get them so they are posted straight up and down?
Here is my example.

Are you using a phone to take the pictures? Someone suggested to me once that that might be the problem. If it is then maybe rotating the phone might help. I or one of the other moderators can edit them but it requires that I save a copy of that image then open and rotate it and save that version then go into your post and edit yours out and replace it with the one I corrected. So I don't always do it unless I think it makes the picture significantly easier to see what the poster wanted us to.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

If you're using your phone get used to taking widescreen (landscape) photos instead of portrait. Rotate your phone CCW and you'll have no issues. Videos should be widescreen anyway but even in that case rotate your phone CCW.

The other choice is to open the photo in a viewer, rotate the photo, and save it in the new orientation.

Thanks RainMan. I will try it that way because I am not posting from my phone but the photo originally comes from my phone then emailed to myself and copied to my hard drive. Then is posted/uploaded to my thread. It looks like trial and error from everyone's suggestions is best.

Sorry Austin I was being facetious. But who knows lol .

Seriously,I’ve heard you resize your pics and they work. Not sure of that involves cropping so that their not in portrait mode ?
When I’m ambitious I upload my pics to Imgur, then post the link ,and with any luck the pic shows .
I believe I had problems a while back with Imgur to,so I started going back to manage pics here .
I prefer the Imgur way,as I don’t know how to put text between pics if you upload them here , and sometimes it’s easier to describe what’s happening if you have a sentence between each pic

I am doing a experiment here for my photo posts: Left photo is pic taken Landscape view, the right was picture was a photo that is saved vertical and then posted. Verdict is that the phone picture in landscape view make a normal upload that doesn't rotate. QED

Click on Go Advanced, hit the paper clip, browse to your photos, upload them, then put your cursor where you want a photo and hit the dropdown to insert that photo.

Which is why I said earlier, shoot in landscape and you won't have any issues. Glad it works for you!

Ensure that the pic on your computer screen is as you want it shown on the Forum. If it isn't, turn it around on your computer screen before posting. I always do that, and have never had your problem. Others may know more, and if so, I hope they chime in.
