Question Forum Contests

It has been a plan for quite some time now to implement month forum contests sponsored by your favorite woodworking tool suppliers. We are in the process of lining up some prizes and sponsorships for a series of forum contests. The plan is to run a contest once every month and make it so that everyone is eligible (except myself, of course). Although, in order for this to work properly, I need your help. I need ideas for contests. What I mean by this is, I need ideas on what to judge a contest on, or ideas for entry requirement.

In the past we've used:

- Share your project(s) (pictures / information)
- Create a woodworking tip
- Simply post "enter me"

These ideas are fine, but we want to have a larger selection of ideas. Post your thoughts on what the contest should be and we'll start setting up these contests and start awarding prizes!

Thanks guys!

Hi Mark

Your post intrigued me.

Just a thought, how many times have you tapped a nail using something other than a hammer/results, the many uses of a screw driver other than putting in screws/results, these are examples of some ideas.

I bet we all have used a tool of one sorts or another for a use other than intended. I must confess I have come up with some pretty innovative ways of misusing tools, well in my eyes a necessity at the time.

Just a thought

John

Well more specifically, I'm seeking ideas for the contest content. For example, in the past in order to be eligable for the prizes, you had to "Submit a photo and some information about a project you created". I would like to think of some more ideas like this. It can be something similar to what John suggested, a story or experience. I'd just like to be a bit creative with these so we aren't running a monthly contest with the same principle "Submit your project etc...", it'll get boring fast.

Just another thought, my biggest flop in the shop, I have had many projects end up saw dust or scrap. -Makes a grown man weep. How it went wrong and how it was saved,,, if it was.

Negative confessions may lead to another not making the same error,,,,,,

I had thought of accidents in the shop, but got afraid of the gory photos that may show up.

Just another thought.
