Default Language assistance

As our membership grows world wide we are gaining many members who use English as a second language. If you are fluent in another language and willing to help other members with questions please post the information here.

Great Idea!
I use to work with several Vietnamese, and South American woodworkers and they could talk English but several could not read or write English. If some one could interpret for them we might learn some interesting things, and we may be able to help them enjoy the hobby as much as we do.

Je utiliser pour travailler avec les Vietnamiens de plusieurs, et sud-américaine des travailleurs du bois et ils pouvaient parler anglais, mais plusieurs ne savaient pas lire ni écrire l'anglais. Si certains on pourrait interpréter pour eux, nous pouvons apprendre des choses intéressantes, et nous pouvons être en mesure de les aider à profiter de la passion autant que nous faisons."

Hi Mike:

In the past I've helped with French. You can put my name on the list. However, I'm not on as often as I'd like any more -- too many irons in the fire. If you need assistance send me an e-mail. At least, I check that daily. There are several others who speak French and I'm sure Spanish is no problem.

"Google is your friend -- Google Translate"

I use Google to translate individual words, along with a variety of other dictionaries. However, it is useless for translating anything else. I've tried many times and end up heavily editing the result or throwing it out entirely.

If you want to do a test, enter something in English, translate to another language. Copy the result back to the translator from that language back to English.

Hello, How are you doing. = สวัสดีคุณเป็นอย่างไรทำ = Hello, you have to do it.

Might I also suggest that a banner in the languages covered be included somewhere on the start page. i.e. "l'assistance Français, clic ici.= French help, click here"

On the down side, it takes a lot of work to translate something correctly. Noone can do this continuously. There should be a group of users to support French or each of the languages supported.

I've thrown a photo of my neck of the woods just for fun. This was a first snowstorm of the year. A little late but still beautiful.

Default Moi aussi, Geoff !

I too have been living and working in France for a few decades, so if Geoff's offline I can probably help.

Happy New Year to all!
