$130.00 isn't bad but an extra $100.00 for the capacity to do a backup to protect your investment ... I'll have to pass. Anyway, I'd expect the protection scheme to be a problem with transferring the vids to my media server (WDTV Hub) which is where I'd prefer them to be.

$130 is a great deal for 14 seasons of the show. Buying the 4 license offer means 4 people can share the cost and pay $57.50 each. Why would you need an additional back up? Once the show is installed on your PC you remove the flash drive... that IS your back up.

I was going by what the RW page stated. It mentioned the 4 license version was required:

Also do you know if the WMV files would be then transferable to my media server? If I was sure I could I'd be lobbying with the boss for the cash.

P.S. Here's a link to the spec's on the media server.

Patrick, you can install the files on any hard drive but the license will only work on one PC and is non transferable. You should contact Rick for technical questions via the link.

Mike, that is what I have done with my copy. (on HP laptop) - also did this with the Popular Woodworking DVD and the Woodsmith DVD I received on ISS.....no problems.

As you will agree, this is great value for all episodes of this show.

The HUB has a drive, 1TB mapped to the laptop, and there is enough room unless the files are very compressed. What I need to ask Rick is if the files are extracted to a compatible format or if they are left embedded in something like an EXE for copy protection. If so it wouldn't work with the HUB. I'd really rather watch them on the larger screen and I don't have a convenient place for the laptop near the TV.

Thanks

Hi Pat

You can only view them on a computer PC or if you have a hook up for your TV you view them that way via.the PC..and only on a small screen format the norm..but you double click the PC screen to get them bigger..sometimes..
