Default The Woodworking Shows - Detroit

Anyone in the Detroit area interested in attending the show this Saturday? Several of us are going for sure, meeting at my place at 8:45am. Show opens at 10am. I have talked to a couple of the vendors and this should be a great show.

If you need directions send me a PM, email or call me.

Brian and I had a good time today at the show. Roland Johnson of Fine Woodworking Magazine put on a very good class on routers. He asked people to raise their hands if they owned routers, then 2, 5, 11 or more and my hand stayed up. Roland said: "Mike, that's no surprise... it's your area."

Alex Snodgrass of Carter Bandsaw Products put on his excellent bandsaw class; very similar to what is posted on the forums. Alex presented me with the tiny reindeer he made in about two minutes.

I got to meet a lot of the vendors face to face for the first time and made some new friends. I helped Jim Heavey from Wood Magazine pack up at the end of his demonstrations and had a nice chat with him. I talked with the owner of The Woodworking Shows and he is a great guy; all the vendors really think highly of him.

Special thanks to Bill the owner of Woodline for some excellent conversation and to Bob and Steve from R.J.R Studios.

James, I was too busy talking to everyone to buy anything. Brian bought a few things.

James, I just bought a couple of small items. Credit card remained unharmed.

Lots of good information at the seminars they had so that was where I spent most of my time at.
