Default Sub-forum suggestion

Being new to the forums I have been reading a lot of the threads and see some have “Sub-Forums” which is really nice to find a specific category. One of the topics I think could use a few “Sub-Forums” is the “Jigs and Fixtures” such as “Dove Tails”, “Mortise and Tenon “ and maybe “Rabbet & Dado”,“Circle” and "Finger-Box"

Just a thought, happy routing!

Dutch

Dutch, the more sub forums we list the longer it takes for the page to load. I appreciate your idea but I do not think anyone wants the forums to load slower.

subs can save time in finding something instead of going thru pages and pages for a specific.. then can save time in long run depending on how they're structured, amount of topics covered in each etc..and they tend to keep members active if things are easy to find etc..instead of as mentioned earlier, scrolling thru page after page if something specific is wanted to find..just a different perspective...

BC, that was my thought. A table of contents rather than a time line time of posts, yes I know how to use search but that's like looking through a index and flipping back and forth.

and the search is dependent mainly/ not entirely on the title..so if members title is "hi new here" as I've seen..then inside a question..since some new members ask things in introductions and not always new in wrong topic or thread runs wild etc. til know the forum, and a minor mention inside..it may show up way down the line etc..so not always effective...so I personally like subs in some instances..why they're called subs..sub topic of a main..detailed/categorized in a sense..but not always perfect like nothing is..but like mentioned..a different perspective is all...

Change is always good...and...the more things change the more they remain the same...World is full of contradictions...

I tend to think that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Carried to its logical conclusion, too many subs could eventually create a table of contents much like the Grizzly catalog index...

Would we then have subs with mfgs, specific tool, an Incra forum...then what...?

Strictly from a personal perspective I couldn't handle slower...most of my forum reading is done on tablet while commuting...it's already difficult to keep hopping back and forth...

I enjoy reading all posts and it's easy enough now...just my 2 cents from a newbie...

Admin is looking at ways to improve the function of the forums and I will make sure this is forwarded to them. The biggest issue that I see is not being able to sort all the existing threads.

yes..sorting thru the existing would and could be a major time consuming job for staff..for sure..and would have to make sure the subs, if done, wouldn't be to many either, keep it to a basic amount..or back to same thing without gain..if any..not complaining with the way things are now,,was just commenting on a post with the sub idea perspective...
