Default Changes

I've been absent from the forum for just five weeks and I've logged in and went to look at the list of members who had visited the forum in the last 24 hours as I always do and low and behold, it isn't there! What's going on, I have always found this to be a very important part of the forum, the ability to keep track of forum friends.

Hi Harry. I bought this up with Management.

I doubt that feature will re-appear......

Yes, it seems that this popular feature which has worked fine since the beginning of the forums has suddenly become a problem.

I'm wondering if the time might be right to start looking for another forum which is looking to increase it's membership and scope. Just a thought, at present!

Welcome back Harry. Good to see you are getting around better and keeping the forum on track. My experience on things like this it is usually a security issue . A general explanation of why it was removed might help those that used and enjoyed the feature understand why it was removed?

It could probably be researched, for those that can not wait for an answer, by checking the patch notes here.

Dave.. this is the reasoning provided by Cricket, the forum Administrator:

It is simply way too many links on a single page when it is added on top of who is currently online. From an SEO standpoint it is an issue and from a load time of the community it is an issue. Sorry.

Thanks Bill that helps. I recalled something about load times but did not connect it. If the functionality is still there then would a link bring up a new page with the list of those online or last online?

honestly Dave.. I don't know.. but, I would think that it would easy enough and if enough members voice their concerns in a polite manner, perhaps adjustments could be made.

the link would put the "online in the last 24hrs or whatever on the main/ home page", above or below who's online now type thing..it would take an extra second or two to load the main page maybe, should be all...and use little resources..its a matter of checking a setting in admin panel..but a cpl seconds here a cpl seconds there might be the staffs issue,,that I can't say...

http://www.natures-lifestyles-digest.com/smf

above [link]site has: outdoors type things from fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, to living off grid, gardening from veggies to flowers etc, recipes from home cooking to smokers, hobbies, home remedies, to making your own soaps etc..live members chat area.. and more...all is welcome to browse or join..
