What can mount to the Kreg multifunction base?
Looking at possibly acquiring a larger router table than I have now. I currently have a Bosch 1181 table, with a 1617 router, as well as a Bosch Colt and Festol 1010 for handheld jobs.
I have a small shop, but think a router table is a worthwhile investment for safety and to have a workspace if I cover the table/mounting hole.
I have a decent job site TS (Dewalt 7491), but can't attach a cast iron extension to it...
I've spent looking at all the options. I want something easily wheeled, Not too bulky, and that I can store stuff underneath on a whim.
The two I like best are the general international Excalibur, and the Kreg multipurpose frame.
I like the GI one because of the CI top and the dust collection box. I like the Kreg frame best of all, but don't like that they don't offer a CI or even phenolic top... Kreg sells the frame and good quality casters, all separately...
So, say I get the Kreg frame and casters. How difficult would it be to affix the General CI top, or, perhaps, the woodpeckers Phenolic top? I've never put together a router table like this, so it isn't clear what it takes to affix the top to the frame on these. Also, if I went with something other than CI, would going with someone else's top create issues with sagging? I note that the Kreg worktop is designed with the router support screwed to the top, while the woodpeckers frame has extra supports. I just prefer the Kreg casters and frame to the woodpecker and general frames and wheels...
Thanks for your insight.
