Default Brass guides and inserts.

First let me say I know almost nothing about routers, I've just purchased a Bosch 1617 with both bases. I am looking into purchasing the Oak Park router table but I have a question. It states that it takes 1 1/2 inch guides but all the guides I've looked at anywhere else are 1 3/16. Is this correct or are they talking about the diameter of the hole and not the top edge to edge?
Also does anyone know how hard is to build the base for the Oak Park table if I purchase the kit?

Thank
John

Its correct they use a larger guide which is better for a couple of reasons. I have only seen them at Lee Valley and Oak Park. The plans for the base are free with the top.

It is easy to make your base work with the larger guides with a drill press or make a secondary base using the drill press to take the larger guides.

I have both the larger and smaller guides with many different shop made base plates. The router insert at Oak Park takes the larger guides so you may as well have your hand held take them too.
