Default T.V. Cabinet pictures, as requested.

You asked for it, so here it is.
Derek.
Television and dvd cabinet in Oak.

All the timber is European Oak, and dimensioned to 22mm. thickness, excepting the top, rails are 70mm.wide

1 Pictures 1 and 2 show a piece of reclaimed Oak, (i.e. a part of a window seat), that I have added with biscuits to make wider at 450mm. by 750mm. by 40mm thick. and planks of Oak 22mm thick to form the centres of the end panels, under cramps.

2 Pics. 3 and 4 show cleaning off the old finish and preparing the top and ends.

3 Pics. 5 and 6 rounding over the top and top ready for finish.

4 pic. 7 shaping and rebating the rail and stile timber, and 8 the components for the rails and the stiles of the end panels.

5 Pic. 9 shows rails and stiles also the fielded inset panels, and pics. 10 and 11 show glued up and under cramps.

6 Pics. 12, 13, and 14 show rebating the framing timber for the base, counter drilling for plugs and screwing together with plugs to finish.

7 Pic. 15 shows same under cramps.

8 Picture 16 shows a piece of Oak veneer glued in place where it will show in the bottom of the cupboard.

9 Pic. 17, 18, 20, and 21 show biscuit joints being cut for the assembly, and the final assembly glued and cramped up

10 Pic 22 the mid way shelf is veneered mdf, and edged with strips of oak.

11 Shelf side supports pic. 23, glued into place, these will also locate the drawer into position.

12 24 shows shelf in lace, and 25 shows drawer front glued up.

13 26 shows carcase glued up and 27 is a plywood box that wil take the place of a drawer.

14 28/1 Door and drawer front (door) rebated to take piano hinge, 28/2,3,4,5, show doors fitted, stained Medium Oak, and finished with a coat of Rustins Plastic Coating.

15 28/6 shows loose box instead of drawer, this to make it easier to get to dvd,s and videos.

16 Picture 35 shows the completed item, with the smoked glass doors added, (these are recycled from another unit a few years ago).

17 36, Here are the cutters used, and the small magnets used to hold the doors closed.

Thumbs up Really great finish on your project

Derek that is a great picture series, I really like the finish on your cabinet. That is one part of woodworking that I do enjoy. It is the finish that the true inner beauty comes out in the project.

Maybe some timd you could give some kind of account on how you did the finish. Thanks Jerry
