Simple ain't bad. You still have the option to add a split fence with a variable opening by cutting a slot on each side so you can pass a bolt through the split fence, through the slot to star knobs on the back side of the fence. You could then cut a dado for your Ttrack near the top of the split pieces to secure your featherboards. The slot doesn't have to be very long because your maximum opening only needs to be 3-4 inches wide.
Are you thinking of putting a laminate top on your table? I like the way it lets your work slide with ease.
You also have to option of putting in a router mounting plate. Add a second layer to the top, cut a rabbet in that top, or use Kreg's leveling screws to adjust height. You could do that mod at any time.
And yup, it really helps reduce the sawdust. I noticed you used the Home Depot dust collection lid for your DC chip separator. I keep reading good things about how well it works. It is a definite choice for tight budgets. Get it and a second hand shop vac and you're off to a good start.
The more I do, the less I accomplish.
