Welcome aboard Oscar and MLCS makes a nice one. Look at it and see if you can try some thing like that. I use mine all the time to make molding and panels.

Welcome Oscar,
I been trying to find the time to make one of those. I been using my milling machine but sawdust isn't good for it. Keep us posted on your progress, maybe it will get me started.
I was thinking of copying the MLCS as John suggests, from what I've found it's one of the better ones, don't look to hard to make.

Cut it twice, and it's still too short!

Hi Oscar, welcome to the forums
I would recommend you pick up a copy of Bill Hyton's Woodworking with the Router. It has a section, including plans and cut list for a horizontal table. I tried copying it into a pdf file to attach here but it wouldn't let me. Something about a missing security tag. May try it again later. I did get a jpg version with a pic of the mount to give you some ideas.
Hope it helps..
That is an excellant book by the way. Lotsa jigs and projects.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

Most of the horizontals I have seen are fixed to a plate that has a threaded rod afixed at the 12 oclock position. Turning the crank lowers and raises the router/plate in reference to the table top inside a square/rectangular supporting frame.

Some precise machining is required to provide smooth travel and nominal play in the vertical plane. I don't think a wood frame would be ideal. At a minium, an aluminum frame would be my suggestion. It will allow tighter tolerances, longer life, and smoother travel. Phenolic inserts may also be something to consider.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

Just remember what my father always said, " Half the people in this world are below average!", and everything in life will make a hellova lot more sense.
