Default Mounting plate question.....

I'm going to build a blanket chest with raised panels. The raised panel with undercutter bit, is 3 1/8". I have the OP table top. Am I correct in assuming that I need to purchase another plate, just to use with this bit? I imagine this plate could be drilled larger, but, then I would lose the ability to use the brass inserts (or, that's what I think would happen).....if I'm wrong, could someone please explain this for me.....thanks.....

Hi Carl,

You will need the larger OP plate. I have 2 plates of each size. I enlarged the hole in 1 of the larger plates. If you use Bob & Rick's method of mounting, centering the plate & letting the bit do the work for enlarging the hole, you won't have any issues.
