Default Plastic Laminate

Hello all!! I am in the process of designing a new router table. I want to use plastic laminate as the top (and bottom) material. I know lowes has sheets of laminate that are about $40-60 a sheet. Are there any more affordable sources of plastic laminate or am I stuck paying the lowes price?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Steve,

You are stuck paying those prices unless you can find a local supplier of phenolic laminated birch. Rockler used to carry it, and its been suggested that it is used to make concrete forms and could possibly be found in scrap pieces or full sheets from construction / concrete companies.

Contact a counter top fabricator, or often a cabinet maker. They usually have off cuts that they may give you free. If they don't have any the size you need, they may be able to steer you to a less expensive alternative than Lowes.
If you lived close to me, I'd have some for you.

edit: Just saw Duane's post. That's a good idea and you won't have to mess with doing the lamination yourself.
