Default Please help me find.....

...a switch that will turn on my DC when the table router or TS is started.
Appreciate any help finding this item. I don't know what to call it to search for it.
Don't want the Long Ranger. Don't need another remote to clutter the shop and get lost.

EDIT, I found it!

Hi Gene

It comes on some vac.like the one below, I think Rockler has them but they don't list it on the net so a call is needed I think.

Dust Collectors and Dust Collector Accessories

It's funny you ask about it, my son was over last weekend and I ask him to make me one, but it turns off and on by the sounds of the router .
use Auto alarm type device box.. I now use one with the hand buttons but it would be nice if it was auto... lazy old fart I am..

Ok Gene, I give up. What did you find and where

Bj - I looked at that vac - I'm not sure it'll work with a table saw or router, at least not very long. It specificies to use with palm sander or something so I suspect that the vacuum + table saw or router gonna be a lot bigger than the breaker. Dam marketing types - gotta read the description real close and then figure out what it said.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

There are several and more than two are listed on Amazon.com. They run around $40 to $60. One runs both the tool and dust collection off the same circuit, the other, I forget the brand and is on my Christmas list, has two plugs that can be run off two separate lines. When the tool is switched on, the DC is turned on as well.

The ratings are pretty good on both.

Try Rockler I-socket tool and vacuum switch, part number 20890, for $36.99. Also there is iVac Automated Vacuum Switch for a little more and both are on Amazon.com.

Should keep it cold too

I dunno, that i-socket looks like it has the same itch.... runs both off the same circuit. Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid because I'm stretched on electrical capacity so I may be a bit oversensitive. My 11 amp vac and 15 amp table saw don't fit on the same circuit. Matter-of-fact, I run them on seperate phases.

Gene,
If your DC is 1.5 hp or more the iVac will not work so I hope you didn't choose that solution. It works fine with shop vacs but the starting load of larger DC exceeds the 12 amp breaker on the vacuum circuit. The tool ciruit is also limited to 12 amp but the advertizing literature is not just misleading, it's dead wrong!
